Children's room
Design of a girl’s room – Space for both childhood and adolescence
This room has been designed with the changing needs of the child in mind.
The house-shaped bed made of solid wood creates a cosy background and can be replaced with a larger one over time. You can see this gradual development in the visualisations – first a house-shaped bed and later a 140 cm wide bed for a teenage child. The built-in furniture in a combination of white and woodgrain offers plenty of storage space for all the child’s necessities.
Opposite the bed is a space for learning and creating – currently with a smaller desk and kitchenette, but ready to be replaced with a larger desk at a later date. In the visualizations I show both variants. A whiteboard for drawing and ample space for play encourage children’s natural creativity. In the future it will be possible to hang a TV on the tiling, although I am personally not an advocate of TVs in children’s rooms, but I often receive such a request when I design.
One of my favourite solutions – window seating – has been implemented in this project as well. Although the window is placed a bit higher, it did not pose any obstacle. I created additional taller storage spaces under the seating, making efficient use of every inch of the room.
Although the owners have external blinds, I decided to use a fabric roller blind on the window to “dress” the window, which always adds a nice cosy feel to the room. This soft fabric element softens the overall impression and creates a warming atmosphere.
Dimmable LED lighting adapts to the child’s current needs, while open shelves with backlighting add depth and a welcoming atmosphere to the space. The room is designed to remain airy, functional and ready for the new life stages of its little occupant.
In the gallery you will find a photo of the original state, a video of the 3D model and visualizations.
Invitation to cooperation
I look forward to the opportunity to help you transform your space into a place where you feel truly at home. I believe that the best results come from a combination of precision, creativity, and careful listening to the client’s needs.
