Entrance hall
Entrance hallway using the space under the stairs
In the entryway for the young family, I focused primarily on the practical use of space with an emphasis on storage options, especially for coats and shoes. As the hallway is connected to the kitchen, which features a kitchen cabinet in Soft Black and Oak Halifax by Egger, I kept a uniform colour and material concept.
The main challenge was to make efficient use of the low and deep space under the stairs. I designed the solution in the form of two doors and two shoe drawers, with additional storage at the back, accessible via a two-door cupboard designed for seasonal coats. I chose this section in Egger’s Alpine White decor to subtly blend in with the wall and not create visual chaos with the already prominent presence of black in the room.
The owners also requested an open space for currently used shoes. I placed this section on the side of the wardrobe, preserving the aesthetics from the front while taking full advantage of the functionality of the entire piece of furniture. With the depth of the wardrobe only 40 cm, I had to deal with hanging coats using a pull-out coat hanger. There are also drawers in the wardrobe for vertical storage of hats, scarves, gloves or seasonal clothes for children.
The wardrobe reaches up to the ceiling, which visually increases the space of the room. I broke up the soft black decor with an open section with lighting, which is used to place baskets for keys, hats, handbags and other small items. The lighting gives the whole solution an elegant look and at the same time enhances its practicality.
